The Obra Social Dona Meca

OSDM (Obra Social Dona Meca) is a non-profit organization based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Our mission is to promote social equality for disabled kids of ages 0 to 18. The kids and teenagers a given the opportunity and support to be rehabilitated through therapies,

sports and cultural activities, which helps them to be integrated well into the society.

Background

This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary.

Over the span of 25 years OSDM have supported more than 2000 kids/youth in Rio de Janeiro, where their lives have improved in so many different aspects.

And How does it Work ?

OSDM supports families who may be socially and financially incapable of providing for their children.

OSDM provides all of the support for free.

We sustain this project through sponsorship, partnerships and donations.

Families

The presence of the kids’ family is very important for their rehabilitation process.
OSDM also provides the parents education, orientation and psychological therapy.

That way they can help the kids to improve and achieve better results.

Shelters

We also are responsible for 2 shelters:

“Casa Lar Dona Meca” – For disabled kids 0 to 14. All the kids are sent school and participate in extracurricular activities such as sports and cultural workshops. They are assigned in formal therapies based upon their needs such as speech, occupational, physiotherapy, psychomotor, respiratory and psychological.

“Casa Lar Balthazar” – For kids 0 to 6. They are supported at shorter duration and participate in the same extracurricular activities and therapies mentioned above.
